We had an interesting talk, Kaki and I, about Santa the other day. She’s ten and asking questions. We went from Santa to gravity, to the Loch Ness monster. It was fun. She is so much her own person. I told her belief was a choice. I told her what you believe can determine what you see and what is real for you. I told her there are more things in heaven and earth than any of us can dream in our philosophy. She asked me if she stopped believing in Santa, would I put things in her stocking. I told her I would, and then it would just be a game we played. She says she likes the idea of a magical man who loves children so much that he brings presents to kids he doesn’t know. I told her I did too. I told her you can’t prove something doesn’t exist, you can only fail to prove that it does.
